- How to Start

You have the option to do business with local, state, and federal agencies. First you need to understand your capabilities and competitive advantage that will set you apart from others. It tends to be easier to start business at a local level. 

- How Do You Find Your Target Market

Understand who is buying what you are offering. Research these potential customers through their websites and attend networking events. You need to also register as a vendor with these organizations which can be called supplier database, vendor database, or small business database.

- SAM

For federal contracting, you must register in the system for award management, or SAM, and each agency individually. 

- How to Market

Actively market yourself to these target customers. While marketing to the government is much different compared to residential or commercial customers. To understand how to do this, reach out to TSBDC or PTAC for assistance.
