The Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) is part of the University of Tennessee’s Center for Industrial Service at the Institute for Public Service. PTAC is funded by the US Department of Defense through a cooperative agreement. The Tennessee PTAC is a part of the Association of Procurement Technical Assistance Centers (APTAC). There are 94 PTAC offices across the United States. PTAC assists businesses interested in becoming government contractors, and they also help existing contractors grow their business.

The Tennessee PTAC provides free counseling on all matters related to government contracting to businesses in Tennessee. They offer training on how to do business with the government, and also offer advanced topics for experienced contractors. In addition, PTAC offers conferences for specific industries. They help business owners understand Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), which includes the rules used by all agencies.
